Mr. Billy will hold a limited class schedule this Winter and Spring while taking care of his son who just learned to crawl over the holidays! Digital arts and Drawing for ages 8 up to teens are meeting Tuesdays. He will be back with a full schedule this summer for classes and summer camps!
Drawing
Mr. Billy's drawing classes meet once a week. All materials are provided. Class is divided into three sections. Students spend the first part of class warming up on their own with practice drawing exercises related to the lesson. During the second section, students will follow along with Mr. Billy's drawing instruction, use reference materials, and make many creative choices to create an original piece. During the last part of class, students take time to finish their artwork and make their pieces all their own.
- A drawing class for kids where we explore a variety of artistic techniques including light logic, color theory, realistic drawing, human proportion, and perspective. We will use markers, color pencil, graphite pencils, and oil pastel to draw animals, people, architecture, and just about anything!
- 6:30 to 8:00 pm

Digital Arts
Digital arts are a growing ever changing field popular among new and traditional artists. Mr. Billy has been working with computers and art over 20 years and has been teaching kids digital arts since 2008.
Classes do require that students bring their own laptop computers. The software we use is free and open source.
2D classes using Krita require a drawing tablet. Graphics tablets such as Wacom or Bamboo (or other brand) come in a variety of sizes, the larger being more expensive and designed for professionals. Typically the smaller ones range from $30 to $100 in price. Many students opt for the "Wacom Intuos Draw." For 3D classes in Blender, a 3 button mouse is highly recommended.
- Students will use Krita and Blender, free open source applications,
to make 3D models, render lighting with realistic materials, and explore animation techniques. We will also explore realistic and stylized digital painting techniques using layers, lighting, brush types, and filters. Blender and Krita can appear overwhelming at first glance but Mr. Billy takes care to break down the concepts and tools in a variety of small and large projects geared for kids, building upon that knowledge each week.
Everyone can try Blender and Krita for free
