- In this workshop we will address how to properly mix resin to use as a top-coat (for your art work), as well as how to mix paint/ink in with resin to create a piece of art. We will go over what chemicals can be used with resin to create lacing/cells. Students will follow a step by step process of how to add color to resin on a 12"x16" canvas. Students are given the opportunity to pick the colors they want to use from a large selection of acrylic paint and acrylic inks. It will take 24 hours for the resin to cure at home. Students need to bring a box lid or other container/tray to take wet canvas home in and a respirator (optional). It is important to keep the piece level during the curing process.

- Theme: Birds
Birds offer endless inspiration for painting! There are so many variations and they can be found in your own backyard!
On Day 1 Chris will demonstrate step by step how to paint a bird using layers of transparent and opaque oils to get a clean, colorful, vibrant painting. Emphasis will be placed on color mixing, loose brushwork, and composition. Painting will be done in the “Alla Prima” style, or “wet into wet”, which results in a fresh, spontaneous look.
Students will have the opportunity to finish a bird painting of their own with individual help from the instructor. A bird photo for this painting will be provided.
On Day 2, the group will complete an exercise that will help to loosen brushstrokes for a more impressionistic painting. Students will also have time to “take flight” and work on a painting of their own choosing; receiving guidance as needed. Be sure and bring some extra photos (of any subject matter) that inspire you!
This workshop is open to all levels from beginners to seasoned painters.
